Marine Corps Outrigger Canoe Race - Recap

Wow….what an absolutely fabulous weekend.  I can’t remember when I had this much fun.

A special Mahalo to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Semper Fit and the Single Marine Program for the opportunity they afforded us.  This was a remarkable experience and we enjoyed being there and working with all of you (Danielle West, Sergeant Major Wayne Bell, Eddie Hadley and our own John Preston).

In attendance were Single Marines from the Marine Corps Logistics Base, Barstow, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego and the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, AZ.  Thank you to all of you for a great time and for allowing us to share this sport we love, paddling outrigger canoes.  Looks like a few people enjoyed themselves enough to practice with us in the near future.  We look forward to paddling with you soon.

Race Results
1st Place - Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Oceanside
2nd Place - Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, AZ
3rd Place - Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego
4th Place - Marine Corps Logistics Base, Barstow

Mahalo to Billy Whitford for the canoes, the paddles, and the tremendous support he has given us from day one, to Joe Harrop from the Tempe Arizona area for driving 14 hours to share this experience with us and to the Outrigger Team California guys, Tony Serafin, Eric Starnes and Jim Vitale for your support.  We thank you and appreciate you all.
